How to Make a Website

Many people do not really understand what a website is but they want to make one. This is a good idea because the Internet is an important communication medium. Websites are infinitely customizable and can be alot of fun to make. The first step is to pick a web host. There are many web hosts out there and many are good and many are bad. It is very important to find the host that is right for you. The two host companies that I currently use are DreamHost and HostICan. I have tried some others that have burned me pretty bad but please leave a comment if you know of any more good hosting companies. Once you get your hosting there is generally a menu where people can control all aspects of their site. It is in this location that important choices are made like which scripts with which sub domains or domain and everything else that the webmaster controls like a pilot does an airplane. The control panel is like another language but most of it can easily be learned online and even basic programming is littered all over the net. One major skill that most average people need is the ability to upload themes like on word press and to tweak them. People can buy this stuff but the whole tweak a theme game is pretty easy. People also buy some premium themes as well. Check out all of the scripts you get and always study online new ways to make your site better. I feel like you will invent the next my space. Why are Blogs So Popular

I really do not have a true answer to this. Blogging has been around awhile and continues to be an important part of the social media landscape. In many ways blogging is an extension of social media rather than the center of it but the mystique and desire for people to put stuff onto the Internet is the great driver of blogs. People can actually own their blog unlike their social media profile that will disappear if the site goes away. Fundamentally blogging is a currency that is traded in social media sites. Many of the best sites that I have found on the internet I discovered on the facebook. Beyond blogging's integral importance in social media, the blogosphere is a social media entity unto itself. If you could imagine this world is one onto which most people on the Internet have stood. Because the blogosphere has no real home and embodies the true meaning of the Internet it is in effect its own self regulating network of entities that drives technology, social interactions, commerce, public opinion, successes and failures. The dynamic content and ability of a blog to truely represent something has allowed an individualistic quality that has driven many people to create amazing works. We can all name great authors and now we can name great bloggers, micro bloggers, web personalities, and the like. That to me is what the Internet is all about and blogging always brings to the table something new. Please leave a comment.

How to Leverage Your Time

There are many time traps in the game of social media leveraging including spending too much time leveraging social media. Many bloggers for instance spend precious time after a post going to every social site on earth and telling the world about it. This is good because going to other social media sites and leveraging your blog or online business is a great way to get people to show up. On the other hand not managing your time and doing this too much is a mistake. Limiting your social media leveraging to a few social mediums a day or a single social media source like twitter can save you tons of time. That is ultimately why twitter is so hot. It essentializes the social functions of social media to the point that I could tell the world about my new post in a second and be on to the next post. Another way of saving a lot of time would be to create a made for digg post for example. After you publish this post then only submit it to digg once and be on to your next post or web project. Another great time sink is just blogging over and over or creating the same types of sites over and over. Repetition without some serious gain is a painful mistake. Most marketers spend more time on planning and execution of marketing strategy rather than leaving out free web content for others to freely interact with. Marketers think more about setting up online stores, leveraging affiliate companies and making important and constructive contacts with various people online to help each other with group projects. The best marketers are good with time management. How do you save time online?

Blog Jobs Online

Getting a job blogging is not easy to do but can be the gateway to leveraging your online stuff. It may help to start a blog in order to put something on your resume. After you have a nice resume you apply to these jobs like any other. When people are hiring for a blog job the most important criteria that they use are experience, knowledge, ability to write, ability to communicate, team work, quality of work, web presence, knowledge of social media, and the list goes on. Many people who are not bloggers get blog jobs because they leverage what they know and their background. A good example of this may be that a scientist who has never blogged before knows a lot about science and has many writing samples in a publication would easily get a blog job with a science blog. With new media comes new opportunities to be had so go out and get them. Here are some resources to begin your hunt for blog jobs:

Pro Blogger Job Board

Wireless Jobs

Online Writing Jobs

Tech Republic

Home Net Pro

Many jobs are also obtained from advertising that you are a freelance blogger on sites like craigslist for example.

Besides just surfing for jobs it may also be important to network with real bloggers so you can blog on each others blogs, as well as shake hands in real life with people who own big blogging networks. At the end of the day it is who you really know versus what you may know that will land you a high paying blogging job. Peace. Please leave a comment.
