The page rank is a number between 1 and 10 that is an estimate to how authoritative a website is. 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest. Authority online is determined by many factors the most important being link structure, web site traffic, quality of site, bookmarks, mentions, references, site speed, the dates when content was uploaded, how exact the content matches key words, how targeted the content is and etc. Google tends to rank sites high that are both authoritative and more importantly staples in the google search matrix.
